One of the most popular issues ever produced of the "Commerce Comet," it is also one of the most elusive in high grade due to the conditions under which the card was distributed, unprotected save for a thin wax coating to fend for itself against a bag of greasy potato chips. However, the offered specimen has beaten the odds and stands tall with a grade of PSA 8. The centering is precise, appearing to be virtually 50/50 all the way around, and the surface is a bright white, free from the dirty appearance that most commonly plagues the issue. The four corners are at the very top end of the grade, and three of the four corners approach the next highest grading level. The color is astounding and shows the immortal Mantle in a head and shoulders pose surrounded by an ocean of lavender background. The reverse is as stunning as the obverse, with a clean undisturbed appearance. An amazing card that any advanced Mantle collector would be proud to own!
