The 164 metal coins in this set were issued by Topps as inserts in the company’s baseball card wax packs. The series is divided into two principle types, 120 "regular" coins and 44 All-Star coins. The 1 ˝ inch diameter metal coins feature a full color background for the player photos in the "regular" series, while the players in the All-Star series are featured against a metallic red or blue background.

These coins were incredibly popular with the kids and today are very difficult to find in high grade condition due to rusting and scratching. Here is coin #131, Mickey Mantle [batting right-handed]. By 1964 Mickey Mantle was such a superstar that they gave him 2 versions of this coin, one batting righty and one batting lefty!
